Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov stated that the Patriot air defense systems provided to Ukraine by Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States have increased “the previously nonexistent capability of hitting ballistic targets.”
Reznikov stated on his social media account that air and missile defense systems are important for Ukraine’s defense. He emphasized the importance of acquiring multi-layered air and missile defense systems as a priority, saying “This means the protection of our cities, critical infrastructure, and our people.”

Reznikov also reported that the Patriot air defense systems provided to Ukraine by Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States have increased the capability of hitting ballistic targets that was previously nonexistent. He pointed out that the IRIS-T defense systems provided by Germany have also increased the capability to fight against cruise missiles and have proven to be excellent, like NASAMS.
Reznikov emphasized that the MiG-29 planes provided by Poland and Slovakia will strengthen Ukraine’s defense against both Russian missiles and Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles.
Reznikov noted that all of these defense systems are new to Ukraine and are now part of the defense forces, highlighting that military support will continue in the future.
Reznikov also mentioned the need for more portable air defense systems, stating that they require different platforms and ammunition.
Reznikov also highlighted the necessity of Western-origin aircraft, saying “We heard ‘No, this is impossible’ for each platform at first. Now they are protecting our airspace. The stronger our air defense is, the more resources Ukraine can use to win the war, and our people can return home quickly.”
Yesterday, the German government announced the delivery of Patriot systems to Ukraine. Reznikov confirmed the delivery of the Patriots on his social media account.
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Pavlyuk announced on his social media account that the Patriot systems were provided by the United States, the Netherlands, and Germany.
